Pedestrian Injury Claim Settled for £28,000 After Hit-and-Run Incident

Published: 24th March 2025

I recently acted for a client who sustained injuries following a road traffic accident. My client was a pedestrian. The defendant driver mounted a pavement and struck my client. The defendant driver drove away and despite investigations, the driver was never traced. My client suffered a fractured wrist, bruising to the side of body and psychological injuries. A claim was submitted to the Motor Insurance Bureau under their Untraced Drivers Agreement. The Motor Insurance Bureau investigated the claim and accepted the claim under their Agreement. The Motor Insurance Bureau arranged medico-legal examinations with a consultant orthopaedic surgeon and a psychiatrist. They also arranged separate treatment for my client’s psychological injuries (EMDR and CBT treatment). Once completed medical evidence had been obtained, we negotiated a settlement in the sum of £28,000.
